Class Details

This day course allows teenagers to acquire a range of more advanced baking skills within a real bakery environment. The session covers a wide scope in baking, to inspire them to continue to bake at home or consider a career within the food industry. The session could be used within their DofE Award Life Skills.

What you will make – Focaccia
What you will learn – Which ingredients are used to make focaccia – How to knead a soft bread dough – How to shape the focaccia – Choose from a selection of ingredients to add flavours to the bread – How to prove and bake focaccia

What you will make – Pastry base and filling
What you will learn – Which ingredients are used to make the pastry and filling – How to make and roll pastry – How to make a quiche filling – Choose from a selection of meats and/or vegetables

Cake Making
What you will make – Chiffon Cake
What you will learn – To make an enriched sponge – Mix a meringue – Learn how to temper chocolate so that you can use the fluid consistency to dip strawberries for your decorations – Construct, decorate and finish your cake


Suitable for 12-17 year olds.

All ingredients provided and the participants take home everything that they make.

Recipe sheets provided to take home.

Lunch and refreshments provided.
